First let me thank you for your interest in me and my career; It is very gratifying to me that so many of you take an interest and are willing to be so actively involved in my career. Rebecca has done a fine job of creating this site and maintaining it (that's why I asked her if she would be interested in taking on the title of "Official Fansite") and I'm sure she will continue to provide the most up to date and accurate information regarding my activities as well as other points of interest for you the fans.

Again, thank you most sincerely for your interest; I look forward to hearing from you as time goes by.

Buck Wallpaper Gil has finally announced his marriage; you can listen to the announcement during the Speaking of Strange (on News Radio 570am WWNC) interview that aired on 16th January.

Finally for this update. No, your eyes are not deceiving you I really have added a Wallpaper to the fansite that, for once, is shockingly colourful. An Andy Warhol-esque design that is available in 1280x1024 and 1024x768 resolutions.

News Flash 14th January 2010

Gil has informed me that he is no longer associated with Cawley Entertainment and will take no further part in the new Buck Rogers project, citing 'creative differences'. I believe that Gil will still be seen as Buck's father during the pilot episode, but if there is a change then I'll let you know. That's all the information that I have at this time.

Belated Happy New Year 5th January 2010

Now that I've finally got an Internet connection again (I've had an 'old fashioned' Christmas folks), I'll wish you all a belated Happy New Year! Also I would like to say thank you for visiting this fansite and for your support throughout 2009, as always it's very much appreciated!

Right then, back to business. I've been having a bit of a sort out here and there on the fansite; mainly changes and additions have been made to the Buck Rogers Info page and Articles. Also the Con' Schedule has been updated, thanks to Scott for the info.

Buck's now toying with us 16th December 2009

Check out the News page for info on a line of 8" figures being released by Zica toys, based on the 1979 Buck Rogers. Yes you read that right; new figures based on our spandex clad Buck and pals. Plus info on the Art Deco design Buck Rogers accessories from retroagogo.com and the parting of ways between Frank Miller and the proposed big-screen Buck Rogers project.

Phew! Hang on, nearly done. Because of the fact that Buck is a very busy chap these days, these are the websites to keep an eye on:

Buck's writing a Buck Book 30th October 2009

A little bit of front page news. Gil has begun writing a Buck Rogers book; the story will continue Buck's adventures straight after the close of the story featured in the movie. Gil's writing the story how he would've liked Buck to have had his adventures. Intriguing. That's all the info I have at the moment folks.

Thank you to Ellen Fusco for her convention photos taken while at the Video Game Expo (9-11 October).

Finally, I know it's tomorrow but while I'm here, I'd like to wish you all a happy but scary Halloween.

A Trip Back in Time 20th October 2009

With all the talk of a new Buck Rogers I needed a trip down memory lane. It's been 30 years since Gil first donned the white spandex (which he wore rather well) and so I decided to add a few Buck Rogers Articles from 1979. The articles include interviews with the Director of the '79 Buck Rogers movie Daniel Haller, Producer Glen A. Larson and Gil himself. Groovy!

Thanks to Patrick Delieto and Sean P. Connaughton for their convention photos taken while at the Big Apple Comic Con last weekend.

DragonCon and Kids Rock Celeb' Golf photos 6th September 2009

First of all thanks to Scott and Rhonda for their photos; all taken while at DragonCon 2009. See the Con'/Event Photos page.

While sorting out the convention photos I came across photos of Gil when he attended the Kids Rock Celebrity Golf Tournament in August 2008. One of the photos is of Gil with Dennis Heysbert; during Dennis' early career he played Lt. Parson in the second season of Buck Rogers. I totally forgot that I had these pictures; I think it was Gil that sent them to me. Ooooops!

Gil Tweeting 10th August 2009

Blimey, Gil (Gil_Gerard) is now on Twitter! Yep really. So you can now read about what Gil is up to from the man himself. I, Rebecca (Beck2491), have been on Twitter for a few months with a mix of what I'm doing and Gil/Buck info, basically talking nonsense all under 140 characters; although I can talk nonsense in any amount of characters, a bit like now.

Update: 11th August. Shame on me, forgotten to say thank you to Joseph Bratko for his photo of Gil taken while at Chicago Comic Con last weekend.

Boldly going into the 25th Century 9th July 2009

Firstly I want to say a big thank you to Patty Wright (writer of Kitumba) for not only allowing me to use photos of Gil while he was visiting Retro Film Studios (A behind the scenes photo and one of Gil as Admiral Sheehan) but for also allowing me to publish the following news article here on The Official Gil Gerard Fansite. The article will also be on startreknewvoyages.com

Gil Gerard and Andrew Probert Drafted into Starfleet During Set Visit

Gil at Retro Films StudioA visit to Retro Film Studios during the filming of Kitumba found celebrities Andrew Probert and Gil Gerard both unexpectedly donning Starfleet uniforms for a stint in front of the camera.

Probert, a designer/illustrator, is a life-long-Star Trek fan and is best known in fandom for his work as a major design contributor for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and as the designer of the Enterprise-D while Senior Illustrator for Star Trek: The Next Generation; "Andy offered us the use of a new Klingon fighter he's designed," said Senior Executive Producer James Cawley. "We're really excited to have him aboard for Kitumba." While visiting the sets in June, Probert donned a Starfleet command uniform to appear in a cameo as the heard-but-never-seen Commodore Probert from Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Gil Gerard, however, was never a Star Trek fan. The star of the 1979-1981 Larson/Mantley Production television series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Gerard stopped by Retro Film Studios to meet the newest Buck Rogers, Bobby Quinn Rice, and to chat with several senior production company staff about the upcoming CEC/RFS series. While visiting the studio the warm, gregarious man was impressed by, and became enamored with, the Phase II production "family". Within hours Gerard found himself joining the festivities and was wrangled into a uniform to take on the role of Admiral Jack Sheehan - the man who sends James T. Kirk and the Enterprise on their mission into the Klingon Empire. One look at himself in Starfleet uniform and Gil Gerard proudly, and happily, admitted defeat at the hands of the die-hard Star Trek fans. "Damn you! You've brought me over to the dark side!"

Classic meets new (worth more than 2 Bucks) 21st June 2009

Gil and Bobby RiceAs reported on trekmovie.com (on 17th June), Gil visited Retro Films Studio and met Bobby Rice the new Internet Buck Rogers (see left) and 'handed over the baton' so to speak. Kinda like 30 years ago when Buster Crabbe met the then new Buck Rogers.

But wait that is not all; Gil is to join the cast of the new Buck Rogers web series scheduled to be online in 2010; visit trekmovie.com for the full article. Also for more on the Internet series, which is in pre-production, visit BuckRogersBegins.com (Check out the forum too).

(Update: See the News page regarding Gil's cameo appearance in an upcoming webisode of Star Trek Phase II)

Happy 30th Anniversary Buck! (1979-2009) 30th March 2009
Buck Rogers Cast

Blimey, 30 years! Alas it is true; it was back on this day in 1979 that audiences first saw Gil strut his stuff as Buck Rogers, disco dancing his way around the 25th Century (accompanied by beautiful ladies of course), saving the Earth from certain doom. Bizarrely, the 25th Century had what can only be described as a tad of a 1970's fashion revival so it was perfectly fine for Buck to go around with his shirt open down to his navel, wear flares and have shirt collars big enough to put a Boeing 747's wings to shame and this fashion revival wasn't exclusive to Earth; just like Colonel Deering, Princess Ardala of the Draconian Realm sported a fetching 'Fawcett Flick' hair do. Far out!

But I totally digress folks. It is with fondness (of the TV show that had the audacity to have a phallic symbol during primetime TV and yes Twiki we're talking about you pal), that I say "Happy 30th Anniversary to our disco dancing Buck".
